On Monday and Tuesday approximately 20 scientists joined together for a transdisciplinary workshop on cardiac research. The intended purpose of the workshop was to provide the necessary background so that both the nanoscopy group and those from medical biology could communicate and understand each others’ research, as well as jump-start discussion for the HelseNord project “Advanced imaging of cardiac mitochondrial quality control.” The workshop was organized by Dr. Åsa B. Birgisdottir (Medical Biology) with help from Dr. Deanna Wolfson (Optical Nanoscopy), and included special lectures from guests from both the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and IIT Genoa. The workshop was very interactive, with many questions asked, ideas tossed around, and already a lot of collaboration seen during the “Guess the Scalebar” competition.
