Prof. Balpreet S. Ahluwalia has been chosen by the European Commission to speak about “Frontier research to fight COVID-19”, as part of the European Research and Innovation Days that will take place from 22nd to 24th of September 2020.

In his talk, prof. Ahluwalia will present the idea about chip-based nanoscopy and its potential usefulness for COVID-19 research, as recently demonstrated in a published article together with his collaborators from Germany, where the chip-based nanoscopy technique was used for imaging SARS-CoV-2.

The preprint version of the article can be found here.

Hereby a short description of the session, obtained from the European Commission webpage:

Frontier research to fight COVID-19

The ERC session ‘COVID-19: frontier research in the spotlight’ aims to showcase examples demonstrating the added value of bottom-up frontier research in bringing innovative (and sometimes unexpected) solutions to the Covid-19 crisis, at short or medium-term. In this session, four prominent scientists, funded by the ERC, join forces to shed light on how we can build a more resilient post-pandemic world.
