Frances Cooke, PhD Candidate
Frances is a PhD Candidate in the Gas Hydrates and Free Gas Reservoirs research group at CAGE, working within the SEAMSTRESS project.
Since April 2019 she has been enrolled as a PhD student at the Department of Geosciences, UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. Her current research investigates stress generating mechanisms and their effect on fluid migration and seafloor gas release on Arctic margins. Her focus is on the use of high resolution 3D P-Cable seismic data to characterize faults and fractures in the near-surface.
Topics of her work include paleoclimatology, seismic data processing, and structural interpretation. She holds a BSc (Hons) from the University of Edinburgh (2007) in Environmental Geoscience; two MSc degrees, from Bangor University (2008) in Applied Marine Geoscience, and the University of Adelaide (2011) in Petroleum Geoscience. She also worked as a geophysicist at Gardline Geosurvey Ltd (U.K.), CGG (Australia), Polarcus Ltd, and CSIRO (Australia).
