Freya Sykes, PhD candidate
Freya is a PhD candidate within Pleistocene to Present: Methane, Ocean Acidification and CO2 work group at CAGE.
I am currently working towards a PhD under the supervision of Mohamed Ezat within ARCLIM. My research will be focused on the development of foraminiferal proxy methods that can be used for reconstructing surface ocean hydrography in (sub)polar areas through culturing experiments under independently varied conditions and geochemical isotopic analyses. The aim is to apply these methods, alongside others, to marine Arctic sediment cores that resolve the last interglacial period, thus better resolving and constraining previous climate transitions.
I hold a BSc(hons) in Geography from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc from Stockholm University.
