Peter Svenonius at this week’s Linguistic Flash Mob (14. May 2020 @ 6 P.M.)

For those of you who have not already seen it, I attach a flyer for this weeks Flash Mob  linguistics debate: this Thursday at 6pm our own Peter Svenonius will be discussing the functional hierarchy with Guglielmo Cinque (Università Ca‘ Foscari Venezia). They will be asked to debate based on the following questions:

a) What is the language acquisition model that you envisage? Are these hierarchies evolved as irreducible properties of UG or are they learned?
b) What is the relevance of scope in determining functional hierarchies?
c) Does the same meaning necessarily correspond to only one possible structure/derivation?

A dedicated Youtube channel is now available for the direct streaming and as video storage. This is to avoid the overcharging of Zoom, which cannot support too many scholars at the same time.
