We are delighted to start the new semester off with a thesis defence on August 25th.
In connection with his defence, Bror-Magnus will give a trial lecture entitled Key influences in the development of sociolinguistic norms through the lifespan of an individual starting at 10.15.
The defence of his thesis The roles role play plays: The form and function of bilectal codeswitching in North Norwegian pre-school children’s role play commences at 11.15. The work can be accessed here.

Bror-Magnus has been supervised by Merete Andersen (UIT) and Øystein A. Vangsnes (UIT). Professor Jennifer Smith (University of Glasgow), professor Tomas Riad (Stockholm university) and associate professor Carola Kleemann (UIT) form the defense committee. The defense will be lead by the head of the department for Languages and Culture Gustav J. Pedersen.
On the day following the defense, a small workshop will be held in which the opponents are invited to talk about their own areas of expertise. The workshop will take place on August 26th in room B-1003.
Jennifer Smith will talk about the Mapping Scots in the 21st century at 11.15-12.00. Tomas Riad will then talk about The secret morphology of Tashlhiyt Berber from 12.00-12.45.
