Adaptive management
- Track your indicators regularly by collecting data defined in your monitoring plan in Step 6
- Review progress towards your SMART objectives at regular intervals, comparing monitoring data against your targets
- Identify what is working and what is not by evaluating the effectiveness of individual management actions and understanding why some may be underperforming
- Adjust your management approach where needed, revising actions, timelines, or even objectives in response to new evidence
- Document your adaptations so that changes to the plan are transparent, traceable, and can inform future management cycles
