The EMB blueprint is designed as a flexible, low‑threshold guide rather than a prescriptive plan. The guide provides a structure to be adapted to local realities and is meant to inspire application possibilities that are practically feasible. Your local context, knowledge and experience  will fill this structure to build a management plant that can be put into practice.

You can adapt the steps to local contexts and apply them proportionally to capacity and available resources. The depth of your analysis may be phased over time. The emphasis is on legitimacy, learning, and institutional embedding rather than technical completeness from the outset.

What do you need to have in place?

• An idea of the socio-ecological challenge in the system you want to manage
• Funding for core team
• The core team:
  • Main manager(s) (that can be yourself)
  • Local coordinator (someone who has overview and connections in the local community)
  • Some expertise in EBM
