Step 10

Implementation phase

Step 10 (and all others): Communicate

Over the entire process you want to ensure that background, decision-making, actions and outcomes of your management work reach the people who need to know about them.

Your goal is to communicate results in a regular, targeted, and strategic way. This maintains transparency, builds trust, and sustains broad support for the management process

Get the word out!

Communicate, communicate, communicate

  • Develop a communication plan early: define what will be communicated, how often, through which channels, and by whom. Communication should not be an afterthought but an integral part of the management process from the very beginning
  • Know your audiences: tailor your communication to different groups, from technical partners and authorities to fishers, local businesses, and the wider community. Different audiences have different needs, interests, and levels of familiarity with the process
  • Communicate throughout the process: share not only final results but also background information, the rationale behind decisions, and updates on ongoing actions. Transparency at every stage builds credibility and trust
  • Celebrate successes: highlight progress and positive outcomes to maintain motivation and demonstrate the value of the management effort to the community and decision-makers
  • Be honest about shortcomings: openly communicating challenges and setbacks, and how you are responding to them, strengthens rather than undermines trust
  • Use accessible formats: present information in clear, visual, and engaging ways that are suited to each audience, avoiding technical jargon where possible
  • Create opportunities for dialogue : communication is not only one-way. Invite feedback and questions from stakeholders to keep the process participatory and responsive

This is not the end!

Even though it feels like finally you have reached the end of this

actually, it is another beginning.

Here is where the journey starts for  real-world change, learning and adjustment.

Your EBM can only be effective when it is actively realized – long-term.
