About

This blueprint presents a step-by-step process for empowering local authorities and enabling local capacity building for community driven ecosystem-based management.

It is based on the UN Environment Program’s guidelines for marine and coastal ecosystem-based management (UNEP 2011) and adjusted to function as a low-threshold guide to implementing EBM locally. The main goal is to enable local managers to develop a management plan by adapting the steps to their specific socio-ecological system.

The blueprint draws on experience from the AA-Agora partner projects: the Living Labs in Karlsøy, Northern Norway; Cork County, Ireland; and the Centro region, Portugal.
