The NordCO2 PI Leif Hammarström is coordinating a new EU funded project funded through the FET open call. The FET calls for ambitious innovations that has a radical vision and represents a technological breakthrough.
There is no doubt Hammarström fullfills these criteria trying to make fuels from CO2 using artificial photosynthesis inside soap bubbles. NordCO2 congratulate Hammarström and his collaborators from 6 different countries in Europe with the new project called Sofia.
The NordCO2 consortium is expanding and has rescently included several Associated PIs from the Nordic Countries. Firstly, we welcome Martin Prechtl who recently joined Roskilde University in Denmark as NordCO2 Associated PI. Read more about Martin here.
NordForsk-funded researcher Torstein Fjermestad (UiO, Norway) received a prestigious Horizon 2020 MSCA postdoc grant for his project EMPaTHY (Use of multiscale modElling to Minimize coke ProducTion during the methanol-to- HYdrocarbon process) at Polytecnico di Milano. We wish Torstein all the best in his future research endevaours!

– You can convert CO2 to medicine in the lab.
– You can feed CO2 to algae, so they become fish-feed.
– You can detect CO2 in human breath and diagnose diseases.
– You can investigate how organisms in the ocean are affected by raising CO2 levels.
– You can study CO2 emissions in Norway and how they affect our climate goals.
