The International Research Group on Reintegration (IRGR) is a specialized research unit focused on the complex challenges involved in the social, political, and economic reintegration of ex-combatants after war. The IRGR emerged out of a series of research projects on Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) at the University of Tromsø’s (UiT) Centre for Peace Studies (CPS) and the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs (NUPI).

Drawing from its unique mix of prominent practitioners and experienced academics from the fields of ex-combatant reintegration, DDR, Security Studies, and Development the IRGR is poised as an expert group focused on the nexus between knowledge and practice in reintegration policy and programming.
